Vince at US Festival

May 29, 1983, Mötley Crüe took a break from recording Shout At The Devil to open "Metal Day" at the US Festival in San Bernadino, California. Tommy later told SPIN, "I remember arriving by helicopter and looking down on something I’d never, ever seen before – 300,000 people! Whoa! I was really excited and fucking nervous all at once. Kinda felt like puking, actually. When we got onstage – holy shit! We renamed it the Dust Festival. A sea of people in dust. I’ll never forget that."
